HDR Panoramic Photography

With Spring arriving in only 2 days, the weather is on the turn and the skies around North Wales have been full of interest, vivid colour and detail.

I’ve had a break from wedding photography in Chester over the past couple of few days, and I’ve been using my panoramic equipment and the HDR setting on my Canon 5D MkII to capture some shots. The two images below are both shots of the landscapes close to my home in Northop, North Wales.

Both images are made up of 5 horizontal images, and each of those horizontal images is actually 3 pictures taken using HDR (high dynamic range) which is one taken on low light, one mid, one highlight. So, that’s 15 pictures in total to make each image. There is a lot going on here, with about 10 post processing effects applied. The main adjustments were as follows; Softened sky, sharpened foreground, contrast up in the mid, & overall use of a ‘summer warm up’ filter.
